Alfa Romeo Mito gets new look and interior update
Alfa Romeo has vowed to focus on newer, rear-wheel-drive designs, but it clearly doesn’t think its popular Mito supermini is past it just yet. As such, the company has given it a facelift for 2017 that brings it in line with the sleek looks of the handsome Giulia saloon.

The new entry-level models is known simply as the Mito (how very original), and gets a new sports grille, darker headlight bezels, a restyled rear bumper and a new set of 16in alloy wheels.
All models now feature the latest Alfa Uconnect infotainment system too. Meanwhile, the latest incarnation of Alfa’s badge – as seen on the Giulia – can be found on the grille and steering wheel.
Other trims have changed too, with Distinctive, QV-Line and QV making way for Super, Speciale and Veloce respectively. Opting for a Super adds 17in alloy wheels, front fog lights, upgraded upholstery, aluminium sports pedals and a Comfort pack.

Mid-range Speciale trim gets five-hole alloy wheels, a flat-bottomed steering wheel, red stitching to the upholstery, sports gauges and Alcantara Sports seats. Plump for the range-topping Veloce and you’ll now add an active suspension system, Brembo sports brakes, a 5in touchscreen infotainment and satnav system and twin exhaust pipes.
Engines on offer include a 0.9-litre turbocharged twin-cylinder petrol engine that produces 102bhp and a 1.4-litre petrol available with a range of power outputs, while changes to the 1.3-litre diesel engine means it now 94bhp while producing just 89g/km of C02.

The 168bhp 1.4-litre petrol option is the most powerful variant, getting to 62mph from rest in 7.3 seconds when fitted with the TCT paddle-shift gearbox.
The revised Mito is available to order now with base models priced from £12,960, rising to £20,500 for the 1.4-litre 168bhp Veloce model. It’s unlikely Alfa will have a replacement for the Mito in the works, as the flagship Giulia saloon’s rear-wheel-drive platform and an upcoming SUV mark yet another change in direction for the company.
