Arval attributes the falling in emissions to a combination of the improved official CO2 figures of new vehicles entering the market and an increasing consumer focus on environmental and fuel economy performance.

The BNP Paribas-owned firm also reports that it that it has been advising customers on selecting the most tax-efficient and economical cars; also driving the uptake of such vehicles.

Robert Pieczka, who heads up Corporate Responsibility at Arval comments: “With vehicle costs and CO2 emissions directly linked, the environmental performance of the fleet is often a high priority for our customers. That’s why we spend a lot of time working with them to deliver the most sustainable and cost effective fleet policy for their business.”

He adds: “Whether it’s because of sustainable or commercial motivations, taking a sustainable approach can deliver great benefit to the business and its drivers.”

In recent times, the company says it has noted a greater desire from customers to choose low emission vehicles and is spending more time than ever advising them on choosing such vehicles. year the company launched its Alternative Vehicle Technology Trials so that they can review and report back to customers on the latest ultra low emissions vehicles.

It also held its first technology event where customers were given the opportunity to test drive some of the newest and cleanest vehicles on the market, to provide them with practical insight into the options available to them.
