It seems like five minutes ago since Dale Vince, CEO of Ecotricity was collecting the 2014 Eurostar Ashden award for Sustainable Travel, for establishing the UK’s Electric Highway – a network of rapid chargers, located at motorway service stations across the country.

AshdenAwards2015_newsYet it is that time of the year again – when one of Europe’s top sustainability prizes opens again for entries, this time for the 2015 award. So if your business or project is worthy of recognition and you’ve been green-eyed with envy over Ecotricity’s win this year, then now is your chance to claim a prize for yourself.

Now in their fourth year, the awards aim to celebrate pioneering travel initiatives which encourage people to adopt more sustainable transport options. It’s free to enter and the awards are now open for applications until November 4, 2014.

Entries will be judged on creativity, innovation and results delivered, as Eurostar and Ashden search for two outstanding sustainable travel programmes to be crowned in a special ceremony at the Royal Geographical Society in London on 11 June 2015.

In addition to prize money, winners will be offered a package of benefits including a platform to promote their work; a short film showcasing the sustainable travel scheme, introductions to policymakers, potential funders and investors, as well as access to the prestigious Ashden Alumni network.

Helen Taylor of 2014 Sustainable Travel Award winner Ecotricity said: “Winning an Ashden Award for the Electric Highway – our network of electric charging points across Britain – has linked us to the rest of the world and shown how together we really are creating a greener world!”

Entries can include anything from car and cycle sharing schemes, to new cleaner technologies or integrated transport schemes.

Nicolas Petrovic, Chief Executive of Eurostar, said; “Over the past three years, we’ve had the pleasure of supporting some exceptional initiatives. By offering businesses, schools and social enterprises the chance to showcase their projects to a wider audience, the Awards help to put sustainable travel in the spotlight. We’ve been impressed by the exceptionally high calibre of the Award winners and finalists to date and I’m sure that the 2015 Award will be no exception.”
