Is the end of the fuel station nigh? Well if you’re lucky enough to live in California and drive a Bentley, then it really could be.

The Crewe-based luxury carmaker has announced a new service for its West Coast customers in the form of a mobile app-based fuel-delivery service.

Californian company Filld is working with luxury carmaker Bentley to offer a concierge fuel service.

Fancy leasing a Bentley? You can do here: business / personal

Collaborating with American tech start-up Filld, Bentley drivers will be able to have fuel delivered wherever and whenever it is required. The idea is part of the company’s Connected Car strategy, and the service means customers don’t even need to unlock the fuel cap themselves – it’s all done remotely through Filld’s secure computers.

All that’s needed is for the owner to open the Filld for Bentley app and choose when and where the fuel needs to be delivered. It’s a first for Bentley, but it can only add to the opulent service the company is known for.

The fuel will be delivered wherever and whenever, and uses a pick up truck to transport the fuel.

Christophe Georges, Bentley’s director of marketing said: “Bentley ownership is about more than just the vehicle – it’s the entire luxury experience. We are continuously investigating ways in which to offer our customers tailored, convenient services that afford them the greatest luxury of all – more time.”

Filld sets its fuel prices based on typical garage prices close the the car’s location. While the service is currently only available in California, Filld thinks mobile-refuelling really could be the future.

The service isn't limited to just Bentleys – anyone in California can sign up for Filld.

Cofounder Christopher Aubuchon said: “Filld and Bentley share a vision of leveraging powerful connect car technology, to one day eliminate the need for customers to refuel cars themselves, removing inconvenience and giving them valuable time back.”

In the future, the service could even include predictive fuel ordering where the car places an order for itself based on fuel level, location and customer preferences.
