Citroen C5 CrossTourer heading for Geneva
Due to be launched at the Geneva Motor Show, the C5 CrossTourer is designed as an all-road version of the current C5. Though it’s set apart by wheel arch extensions, grey roof bars, grey alloys and a raised ride height, this is not a car designed for off-roading. It should, though, be more capable than a standard C5 as it has Intelligent Traction Control for enhanced grip on slippery surfaces and the option of a clever adaptive suspension system.
Called Hydractive III+, this suspension technology controls the ride height in real time so a constant ground clearance is maintained regardless of the loading of the car. The system changes the settings dependent on driver demands and the profile of the road to improve comfort and body control.
At speeds of less than 10km/h the Hydractive III+ system increases the ride height by 6cm to increase the ground clearance while crossing uneven terrain. At high speed the ride height is lowered to improve the aerodynamic properties of the car. The system can also be used to lower the rear suspension to aid loading.
The Hydractive III+ suspension is available in all but two models; the HDi 115 with manual transmission and the e-HDi 115 Airdream with the electronically controlled gearbox.
The CrossTourer is also equipped with full leather and a massaging driver’s seat, along with the eMyWay navigation system and a reversing camera.
