BT Fleet has won a five year extension to its contract with EDF Energy, meaning the firm will continue to manage the energy company’s fleet until at least December 2018.

Having initially begun working together in October 2010, BT Fleet currently manages 1,000 LCVs and 400 cars for the company.

As part of the agreement, BT Fleet is providing EDF Energy with a comprehensive portfolio of services including fleet and accident management, fuel provision and cards, and service, maintenance and repair.

The new contract followed a rigorous tendering process. Key to EDF’s decision to select BT Fleet again was the company’s large garage and repair network with 65 owned garages.

This reassured the leading energy company that company vehicles could be repaired quickly, locally and cost effectively; minimising the downtime of its critical service fleet.

Kevin Boxall, Fleet manager, EDF Energy, said: “Over the past three and a half years, BT Fleet has consistently demonstrated an enthusiastic, ‘can-do’ approach to managing our fleet of vehicles. As a company, we have very strict health and safety requirements, which extend to our fleet of vehicles, so having BT Fleet as a partner ensures that these robust standards are adhered to.”

Dave Bowen, managing director of BT Fleet, said: “The extension of the agreement between BT Fleet and EDF Energy is a further endorsement of the work that we undertake on a daily basis for businesses like EDF Energy who operate specialist, business-critical fleets of vehicles.”
