Fiat’s new Navara-rivalling Fullback pick-up will make its UK debut at the Commercial Vehicle Show in Birmingham later this month before hitting the road this autumn.

The Fullback will tread the same commercial yet family-friendly line as its rivals with its double-cab body style, offering five seats and four doors but also a spacious load area and 1,045kg payload.

Borrowing heavily from the Mitsubishi L200 on which it is based, the Fiat will use a 2.4-litre turbo diesel engine with power outputs of 150 or 180hp, paired to a six-speed manual or five-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive and sports mode will be included as standard on all Fullbacks. Size-wise, it is identical to the L200 at 5,285mm long, 1,815mm wide and 1,780mm tall, with a 3,000mm wheelbase.

The exterior has been restyled with a new grille and side mirrors but inside, Fiat has merely plonked its badge on the steering wheel. The cabin is identical to the Japanese pick-up’s; even using the same sat-nav system.

Equipment will be split over two trims but how exactly kit will be divided won’t be confirmed until closer to its launch around this time next year.

The Fullback is currently on display at the 2015 Dubai International Motor Show, equipped with special accessories currently under development by Fiat’s Mopar aftermarket brand.

“We are delighted to present the new Fullback pick-up at this year's Commercial Vehicle Show,” said Ricky McFarland, country manager at Fiat Professional UK.

“The new Fullback provides us with an exciting opportunity in the growing pick-up truck segment and together with the arrival of the new Talento and new Fiorino models in June, joining the rest of the award-winning Fiat Professional range, we are confident of attracting new fleets and retail customers by providing them with one of the strongest product line-ups in the market today.”
