Vehicle hire giant, Hertz is switching all of its glass repair and replacement needs to Auto Windscreens, as part of a major new three-year sole supplier deal.

It’s expected that the contract, which commences from today (March 24, 2014) will generate around 4,5000 windscreen repairs and replacements each across the UK for nationwide firm.

The new partnership firmly cements Auto Windscreens’ growing presence in the fleet sector, a market it has actively targeted with its flexible automotive glazing solution.

Around 4,500 windscreen repairs and replacements per annum are anticipated across the UK through the contract, starting the 24th March.

Neil Cunningham, General Manager, Hertz UK said: “It is a big decision to move suppliers but Auto Windscreens has a proven system to seamlessly deliver same or next day repairs, organised with speed and minimum fuss.”

He added: “From what we have seen, the solution looks impressive and the consistency it will afford should be evident from the outset. Their teams will also work closely with our branch managers to keep vehicles on the road.”

Auto Windscreens has appointed dedicated technicians at some Hertz locations, including Heathrow, to work exclusively on vehicles for the car hire company.

Fitting centre managers will also work closely with various Hertz’s depots to support them where possible, although much of the repair workflow process progresses automatically. Hertz managers simply input details of any damaged vehicle glass into an internal logging system which feeds directly into Auto Windscreens’ to quickly action repairs. The use of HPI Screen Check technology, which was recently introduced by Auto Windscreens and improves glass stock selection to near 100%, also adds to speed of the process.

Joy Cooper, Sales Director at Auto Windscreens, said: “Hertz demands the highest quality from its suppliers to keep its customers and vehicles mobile. It is a globally recognised brand and awards contracts only to providers that it feels 100% confident in, both in quality and service.”

Hertz is not the only big player in the daily rental fleet arena to partner with Auto Windscreens, a UK leader in automotive glazing, and plans are in place to tap further into the market, according to Joy.

She added: “The partnership firmly demonstrates our commitment to the daily rental fleet market. Fleets remain a prime focus for Auto Windscreens and we are keen to reinforce this to potential customers who may not be aware of our growth in the sector. We have a highly flexible proposition ideally suited for the individual requirements of such businesses, and at a competitive cost that appeals.”
