Hertz UK has been announced as the official vehicle supplier for the Rugby League World Cup.

The global car rental franchise has supplied 16 uniquely liveried vans and 20 people carriers to transport players, coaches and equipment to and from the fixtures during the six-week tournament which kicks off this Saturday [October 26] at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium with Australia v England and Wales v Italy.

Each of the 14 participating nations has also been provided with their own specially designed van, sporting colourful designs intended to represent their national identity.

“We will genuinely be helping to keep the tournament moving,” said Michel Taride, Group President of Hertz International.

“The Rugby League World Cup 2013, hosted by England and Wales, promises plenty of high octane action and Hertz is very excited to be a part of the passion for RLWC2013 by providing specially decorated vehicles for the teams.”

Sally Bolton, the tournament’s general manager, added: “After seeing all the enthusiasm generated by the Hertz Trophy Tour Van on its tour around the UK, we are really pleased to now have the bespoke Hertz vans along with the people carriers to transport the players, coaches and equipment of all nations participating in the tournament.”

Hertz has also provided the Trophy Tour Van which has carted the famous silverware across the UK since March, with the tour proving a major hit in RLWC2013’s host communities. The van, which is decorated with RLWC and Hertz imagery, will continue to be on the road until the start of the tournament.
