All-electric Jaguar I-Pace now available to order

It’s here. The all-electric Jaguar I-Pace SUV has been revealed at the Geneva Motor Show and order books are now open.

Electrifying all-wheel drive performance from twin Jaguar-designed motors gives the I-Pace a combined 400PS and 696Nm, delivering 0-60mph in 4.5s.

Aimed at taking on the likes of Tesla’s Model X, Jaguar promises the 90kWh Lithium-ion battery will deliver up to 298 mile range, with EV navigation to ensure range-optimised routing.

With a 50kW DC rapid charger – the kind found at most public charging stations – the I-Pace can achieve up to 168 miles of range per hour of charging.

For optimum charging at home, you can install an approved Jaguar wallbox. The vehicle is equipped with a 7kW single phase AC on-board charger, which can fully recharge the vehicle overnight and deliver up to 22 miles of range per hour.

When using a domestic socket, charging rates are slower than a wallbox (up to 7 miles of range per hour), but are sufficient to cover the average daily commute of 38 miles if the vehicle is charged overnight. Industrial sockets can charge up to 22 miles of range per hour.

However, the I-Pace is also equipped to accept up to a 100kW DC charge rate for improved charge time as the technology is rolled out across the UK.

To give added peace of mind, Jaguar will also be offering an eight-year battery warranty and 21,000-mile / two-year servicing intervals.

Its sleek, coupe-like silhouette is influenced by the Jaguar C-X75 supercar with a short, low bonnet, aero-enhanced roof design and curved rear screen.

While technically a mid-sized SUV, the I-Pace’s cab forward design and EV powertrain means interior space is comparable to a large SUVs. In the rear, legroom is 890mm with tablet and laptop stowage found beneath the seats, while the rear luggage compartment offers a 656-litre capacity growing to 1,453-litres with seats folded flat.

A new EV navigation system assesses the topography of the route to destination and insights from previous journeys, including driving style, to calculate personalised range and charging status with exceptional accuracy for maximum driver confidence.

The advanced system uses ‘Smart Settings’ technology – driven by AI algorithms – to identify individual driver preferences, and then tailors the I-Pace’s driving and interior settings accordingly.

To ensure owners always have access to the latest infotainment, telematics and battery energy control software, I-Pace will also be the first Jaguar to provide software over-the-air – providing seamless updates ala Tesla.

With supercar looks, sports car performance and SUV space all in one electric package, Jaguar promises to rip up the rule book when it comes to what drivers expect from an electric vehicle.

Undergoing 1.5 million miles and 11,000 hours of component testing, final winter testing took place in Sweden, where the car’s all-wheel-drive performance was tested in Arctic conditions of as little as -40°C.

The car transforms the electric driving experience and offers the kind of driver-focused performance and response Jaguar is renowned for. To help deliver this, the I-Pace has electric motors on the front and rear axles and this helps to deliver the 400PS and 696Nm torque to ensure 0-60mph in 4.5s.

The interior of the I-Pace is finished with premium materials and an unwavering attention to detail – from the expansive panoramic glass roof to the sporting, beautifully finished seats – while digitally it offers two touch screens to provide information as well as limit distraction and improve the driving experience.

The state-of-the-art electric motors and 90kWh lithium-ion battery pack were designed in-house by Jaguar Land Rover to give the best possible performance and range for most daily journeys.
