Italian sports carmaker Lamborghini has revealed its latest car – the Huracán, the replacement to the iconic but ten-year old Gallardo. Set to receive its official world debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2014, the Huracán will also be the star of over 130 private preview events in more than 60 cities throughout the world starting next month.

The name is derived from world of bullfighting and in particular one undefeated specimen who fought in August 1879 and not the famous Buenos Aires football club. Unmistakably a Lambo, the new model shares the same angular and aggressive look of the Gallardo but is brought up-to-date with use of the latest technological advancements, such as the extensive use of LED technology and carbon fibre. Also new on the model is the engine; the 610HP V10 5.2-litre engine is broadly based on the Audi R8 V10 powerplant, in this guise it has a maximum torque of 560 Nm at 6.500 rpm. Top speed is expected to be north of 202mph, while the 0-62mph sprint is set to take just 3.2 seconds. Also thanks to the Stop & Start technology, CO2 emissions have dropped to 290g/km, the first time a Lamborghini has dropped below the 300g/km CO2 barrier.

Keeping all that power in check is a new 7-speed dual clutch transmission, known as Lamborghini Doppia Frizione or LDF for short, and a fully electronically controlled four-wheel drive system. There are three distinct driving modes available on the Huracán, ranging from on-the-road to extreme track performance.

Inside the car, there’s a  12.3 inch full-colour TFT instrument panel, containing all the information the driver can wish for - from rev counter to navigation maps and infotainment functions, and can be configured by the driver in different setups. Fine Nappa leather and Alcantara distinguish the interior, with several colour combinations offered to ensure broad individualization options.
