Originally launched in November 2017, the family-friendly ZS has helped MG become the fastest-throwing car manufacturer in Britain.

It's a practical car available at an affordable price. With the refreshed model launched this month, MG will be hoping this trend can continue.

MG ZS styling

Exterior changes to the new MG ZS include a completely revised front, with a hexagonal grille providing increased road presence in conjunction with full LED headlamps which sweep back towards the wings.

The overall impact creates a front end which looks lower and sportier than the previous model, while at the rear a more extensive use of colour coding adds to the crossover-style design. This is completed with a new aluminium-style trim and refreshed taillights.

MG ZS interior

Changes are even more apparent on the inside, with the MG ZS featuring a stylish new dashboard design with more soft-touch materials than ever before.

Excite versions feature a new design cloth trim, while top-of-the-range Exclusive versions benefit from leather-style upholstery.

With one of the most generous shoulder, leg and headroom capacities in its segment, the new MG ZS provides around 55mm additional rear shoulder room and 80mm rear headroom than the segment average.

An incredible 448 litres of boot capacity – plus a split-level boot – also provides plenty of room for prams, luggage, outdoor leisure equipment or the weekly shop.

MG ZS infotainment

Central to the cabin is a 10.1-inch floating colour touchscreen featuring DAB radio, Bluetooth, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. A series of ‘piano key’ buttons are arranged beneath the floating colour touchscreen, giving easy access to the air conditioning and other comfort controls. Exclusive versions also include iGO satnav and 360-degree reversing camera.

MG ZS engines and performance

Tested on UK roads and developed for UK drivers, the new MG ZS is only available with a 1.5 VTI-tech, four-cylinder petrol engine. This is mated to a smooth and responsive five-speed manual gearbox and hits 0-62 in 10.9 seconds. Combined fuel consumption is 41.4mpg.

Three power-assisted steering modes are also offered – Urban, Normal and Dynamic – which are designed to give the driver complete control over their ride.

Urban offers a lighter and quicker response at low speeds and when parking, while Dynamic mode is designed to increase the steering effort and deliver a higher damping effect at medium and high vehicle speeds. The Normal steering option, for drivers who want to maintain a consistent ride, delivers a great fit to MG’s tailored suspension set-up and vehicle dynamics response.
