New Caddy vans bound for Dundee
Dundee City Council has taken delivery of six new Volkswagen Caddy vans to add to the existing 44-strong fleet, which is used by the council’s construction and plumbing maintenance teams.
The vans were ordered in C20 Trendline guise, which includes cruise control, rear parking sensors and electrically heated and adjusted door mirrors as standard. The vehicles also have VW’s BlueMotion technology, which keeps fleet emissions and running costs down.
The order was placed without the need for a trial because the council’s fleet already consisted entirely of Caddys, and the authority claimed to be impressed with the Caddy’s load capacity, reliability and build quality.
Fraser Crichton at Dundee City Council said: “It is vitally important that we invest in the most cost effect fleet we can. We rely on our fleet of vehicles every day and the Caddy delivers excellent durability and reliability, which ensures the whole life cost is kept to a minimum. The Caddy also comes with a three-year warranty and strong aftersales support that includes a like-for-like replacement scheme. This additional support ensures that we are able to keep our maintenance teams on the road even if a problem should occur or when it comes to routine servicing.”
