Peugeot reveals new 308 SW
Peugeot has released the first official images of the new 308 SW, ahead of its global premiere at the Geneva Motor Show in March. The estate version of the newly launched model will go on sale across Europe in the Spring and just like its hatchback sibling it has been completely redesigned.
Carrying over many of the innovations found on the new hatchback, customers can expect the brand’s smart i-Cockpit driver interface, with lots of touchscreen connectivity and modern, sleek touches, it is produced on the same PSA Peugeot-Citroen ‘Efficient Modular Platform’ (EMP2) which means it is also 140kg lighter than its predecessor. This svelte frame is powered by Peugeot’s new Euro 6 compliant engine line-up, with the brand promising that the new BlueHDi version will emit just 85g/km of CO2, setting a new benchmark in the segment. Other diesel versions of the new estate are also expected to slot in below the 100g/km of CO2 threshold. Meanwhile the 1.2 e-THP with Stop and Start found on the hatchback is expected to be the most efficient petrol offering on the 308 SW, with CO2 emissions expected to come in below 110g/km.
Of equal importance to the success of the SW is it loadbearing capabilities and again Peugeot has come up trumps, with a volume of 610dm3 (VDA 210 standard), the boot capacity of the new model is class-leading. It is a highly practical space too, with the rear seats able to be folded with a since action perfectly flat.
And while Peugeot has not released any confirmation of trim line-ups, we would be surprised if it didn’t follow the Active, Allure and Feline nomenclature. More information on the new 308 SW will be revealed nearer to its Geneva bow.
