Skoda adds Monte Carlo trim to 2015 Fabia range
The new Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo is now available to order with prices starting from just over £14,500. Offering a smattering of sporty styling tweaks without the running costs of a full-blown hot hatch, the Monte Carlo is the closest thing to a vRS model the new Fabia is expected to get.

Based on the mid-range SE model, the Monte Carlo is set apart by 16in black alloys, black door mirror caps and a panoramic glass roof, while the interior benefits from sports seats and floor mats, a multi-function sports steering wheel and black decorative inserts.
All this comes in addition to the Fabia SE’s standard equipment list, which includes manual air conditioning, a 6.5in touchscreen infotainment unit, emergency braking assistance and a DAB digital radio.

While the spec sheet makes for pleasant reading, those looking for a driver’s car might be put off by the apparent lack of modification under the skin. The engine range remains resolutely economy focused, with the most potent unit still the 109bhp 1.2-litre petrol engine. A 0-62mph time of 9.4 seconds and a 122mph top speed isn’t bad for the class, but it won’t be giving the VW Polo GTI any sleepless nights.
If, however, that lack of poke puts you off and you’re holding out for a vRS, you may be in for a long wait, because Skoda has already said that there are no plans for a ‘hot’ version of the new Fabia.
Those seeking an extra dose of practicality, on the other hand, are in luck, because the Fabia Estate will also be offered in Monte Carlo trim with prices starting from £16,140.
