Fleet and leasing software solutions provider Sofico is celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2013.

Founded in 1988, the Belgium-based company has grown from a small, local firm in Ghent to an international company, turning over €16.9m in 2012, with 125 employees across offices in four countries whose systems manage over 1m vehicles worldwide.

Speaking ahead of a celebratory dinner for customers, suppliers and guests, Managing Director Gemar Hompes reminisced over how far Sofico had come, but also looked to where it was heading.

“As a future oriented company with a strong focus on innovation, we always look forward instead of back,” he said. “There are many exciting opportunities ahead of us.”

Plenty more to come

Gemar Hompes - MD of SoficoHompes [pictured] touched on the imminent release of a completely overhauled and modernised Miles user interface which aims to improve user experience and enhance efficiency.

He added: “We will keep leveraging Miles’ flexibility to make it fit for a broader market, through asset and product variability. And we will continue to be on top of evolutions in the fleet market, with mobility management being just one example.

“In addition to our ongoing implementations, a number of important new projects are about to start, bringing Miles to new customers in unexplored territories.”

Sofico started out with Leasebase, aimed primarily at contract hire and leasing companies. In the 2000s, it launched fleet management system Miles, and a mobile version in 2012, catering for the increasing need for mobile access to information and functionality related to company cars.

“There is still plenty more to come,” concluded Hompes.

“Sofico is an innovative company with the ambition to be a technological forerunner within its industry. For this reason, we make an annual strategic investment of 2,000 to 2,500 mandays into product innovation.”
