Volkswagen unveils Scirocco Black Edition ahead of January deliveries
Volkswagen is attempting to boost the appeal of its Scirocco coupe by launching a new special edition trim level. Available for GT and R-Line variants, Black Edition brings black alloys, a black roof and tinted rear windows to the party, along with black door mirrors and a black rear spoiler.
All that paint commands a premium of £550 over the standard GT and R-Line list prices, but Volkswagen claims the additional kit is worth far more than that, citing the £610 asking price of the GT’s 18in Lisbon alloys, and the £70’s worth of window tinting. For those looking to lease, that is expected to be a minimal increase in the monthly rate, which currently averages around £300 a month for personal customers on three-year leases.
Under the skin, there are no technical changes, so the engine range of 1.4-litre and 2.0-litre petrol engines and 2.0-litre diesel engines stays in situ, while standard kit includes a 6.5in infotainment screen, two-zone climate control, digital radio, automatic lights and wipers, satellite navigation, rear parking sensors and sports seats. R-Line cars will also benefit from model-specific bumpers for an extra-sporty look.
Black Edition cars are available to order now, with first registrations expected in January. List prices start from £23,135.
