More power and less weight for 2017 V60 Polestar
Volvo is updating its V60 Polestar for 2017 with a smaller, yet more powerful engine and a reduction in weight.
Described as the fastest production Volvo ever, the new estate has done away with its old 345bhp six-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, favouring a four-cylinder 2.0-litre producing 362bhp.

The new engine has then been mated to the existing eight-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel-drive system to permit a 4.8-second sprint to 62mph – two tenths faster than the outgoing model.
However, this performance is not solely down to the new engine; Volvo has worked hard to reduce the Polestar’s kerb weight, too.

Although the new model weighs just 20kg less than its predecessor, the weight over the front axle has been reduced by 24kg, which means weight distribution has also been improved.
Bigger brakes have been fitted too, and there’s a new electro-mechanical power steering system.
As well as improving performance credentials, this also means better economy. Whereas the outgoing Polestar manages just 27.7mpg, the newcomer will extend that to 34.9mpg, which represents an increase of around 25%.
Prices will be announced closer to the car’s market launch, which is expected to be in the final months of this year.
