Volkswagen has introduced a new special edition of the Amarok pick-up, named the Dark Label, which is set to go on sale at the end of September.

Set apart by 18in, black ‘Durban’ alloy wheels, extended wheel arches, darkened tail lights, black bumpers, door handles and B-pillars and tinted windows, the Dark Label is designed to make the most of the Amarok’s chunky design.

On the inside, the Dark Label gets premium Alcantara upholstery and specially-branded floor mats, as well as a multi-function steering wheel, satellite navigation, Bluetooth and heated seats.

Boasting Volkswagen’s top-of-the-range 2.0-litre bi-turbo diesel engine, the limited edition model will have 180hp and 420Nm of torque. Of the 300 vehicles available in the UK, 250 will take the eight-speed automatic transmission with BlueMotion technology and permanent four-wheel drive, while the remaining 50 will feature a six-speed manual gearbox and selectable four-wheel drive. The automatic will be marginally greener, emitting 1g/km of CO2 less than the manual and equalling its 34.4mpg fuel economy. The manual, however, will be faster, managing the sprint to 62mph in 11 seconds flat, compared to the auto’s 11.3-second time.

To customise the already exclusive vehicle, customers can specify extras like a hard tonneau cover, branded seat covers, chrome door handles and roof-mounted styling bar lights as well as one of three exterior colours: Deep Black, Reflex Silver and Natural Grey.

The Amarok Dark Label will go on sale on September 22 with prices starting from £26,125 (OTR, excluding VAT) for the manual, while the automatic commands a £1,730 pre-VAT premium.
