Revised Fiat Tipo line-up introduces all-new Cross model

  • 29 Oct 2020

Fiat has given its Tipo hatchback a mid-life refresh, ushering in design tweaks, new tech and updated engines.

Most significant is the introduction of the Tipo Cross, an all-new variant that gives the hatch a more rugged look. It’s Fiat’s answer to the Ford Focus Active.

On the outside, you’ll find updated headlights – now all using LEDs – refreshed bumpers and a redesigned grille that includes the new Fiat badge.

On the inside, there’s now an updated 7in digital display that replaces analogue dials. Elsewhere, there’s a redesigned steering wheel and a more ergonomic dashboard layout.

As for the Tipo Cross, it sits 7cm higher than the standard car. It is further marked out by a prominent bull bar and side skirts. The Station Wagon version gets a set of roof bars too, while all Tipo Crosses get larger tyres to create a more robust look.

In total, Fiat has so far sold 670,000 Tipos, and it will be hoping the refresh will continue this success.

More technical details on the updated Tipo and the Tipo Cross are due in November, so we’ll be able to tell you more then.
