Mercedes EQS SUV fast facts

  • Most luxurious Mercedes SUV ever
  • Up to 410 miles of range
  • Seven-seat variant available
  • Stunning Hyperscreen display offered

Mercedes EQS SUV styling

Externally, the all-new model takes its styling cues from the rest of the EQ range. But it’s larger than any other model. Up front, there’s a large black faux-grille that incorporate a set of stunning headlights – much like the saloon.

Round the back and sides, however, things are strikingly different. This is without any doubt a full-size SUV with a third side window and large contours leading to the tailgate. It’s more than 15cm taller than the saloon model too.

The rear gets Mercedes’ flagship full-width lighting bar, which sits beneath a relatively small rear windscreen. The look is finished off by huge alloy wheels, black wheel arch surrounds and chromed running boards.

Mercedes EQS SUV interior and tech

The EQS SUV’s interior is every bit as lavish as the saloon’s, with lots of parts carried straight over. As standard, you get a stunning twin-screen infotainment system and digital driver display.

However, you can plump for Mercedes’ Hyperscreen display (pictured) which essentially turns the dashboard into one huge monitor. It’s actually three large screens, but thanks to the design of the glass it appears to mould into one.

If anything, the interior is even more roomy thanks to rear seats that are electrically adjustable. There’s also a seven seater variation that’ll be offered: if you want an EV that can take on a Range Rover’s people-ferrying abilities, this is surely it.

Mercedes EQS SUV drivetrain and platform

From launch, you’ll be able to get a rear-wheel drive single motor 450+ which sits on the brand’s EVA2 EV platform (the same as the saloon). This model will produce around 355bhp and offer up to 410 miles of range.

There’s no performance specs available yet, but we do know there will also be a pair of all-wheel drive models offered with more power – although range will be reduced to around 380 miles.

Whichever model you go for, Mercedes’ Airmatic suspension will feature as standard, as will a range of driving modes: Eco, Sport, Comfort, Individual and Offroad. The latter will raise the car’s suspension and is aimed at providing better off-road ability.

All models come equipped with 200kW rapid charging capabilities too, which will allow an 80% recharge in around half an hour.
