Mercedes has revealed an AMG 43 4MATIC model will be added to its recently released GLC Coupe range. Making its debut at the Paris Motor Show, the performance variant will join the more conventional-looking GLC43 SUV.

The AMG GLC43 Coupe gets the usual AMG alterations, with a twin-turbo 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine that produces 362bhp, and can reach 62mph from rest in 4.9 seconds.

It’s coupled to a 9-speed automatic gearbox that features AMG’s Dynamic Select system, giving the driver a choice of five different driving modes – Eco, Comfort, Sport, Sport Plus and Individual.

AMG’s sports suspension features, which uses an ‘Air Body Control’ system to provide improved traction in corners, but can maintain high levels of comfort too – depending on which driving mode the driver has chosen.

From the outside, the AMG GLC looks beefier to mark it out from its more sedate siblings. It gets AMG’s bodykit with unique front and rear bumpers, 19in alloy wheels, four chrome tailpipes and a host of other chrome and gloss black touches.

As for the interior, leather sports seats with contrasting red stitching is the most obvious upgrade, while red sports seat belts, a leather-bound sports steering wheel and aluminium sports trim feature on the kit list too.

A 7in touchscreen infotainment system features, but if you want satnav or the bigger 8.4in screen, you’ll have to opt for Mercedes’ range-topping COMAND system. On the other hand, the driver gets a 5.5in LCD display in the instrument cluster that also comes with a race timer – a nice reminder of the car’s pedigree (or a useful touch if you fancy doing a few track days in a monstrous SUV).

The AMG GLC Coupe will debut at the end of the month, and should hit showroom floors by December. Lease prices should be announced around the same time.
