Ssangyong repositions itself with KGM Motors rebrand and new line-up

  • 23 Jan 2024

What’s in a name? Quite a lot, we’d say. Hot on the heels of the news that Ora will be changing the nomenclature of its line-up, another automotive marketing rebrand is underway with Ssangyong – or KGM Motors – as it is now officially know as.

Unlike Ora though, the Korean company has dropped its old name completely: Ssangyong is out and KGM Motors is in. Here’s what you need to know about the brand’s upcoming models.

KGM Torres

To make a splash about its new name, two all-new models are set to hit UK shores this year. First off is the Torres SUV. Designed to take on cars like the Hyundai Tucson and Kia Sportage, it gets more traditional SUV styling than we’re used to.

Up front, there’s a chunky grille that incorporates a sharp set of headlights. There’s plenty of body cladding too, while its height would suggest it has off-roading abilities to match its rough-and-tumble looks.

It’ll be powered by a petrol engine and likely feature all-wheel drive as standard. We’ll bring you more info on the Torres as soon as we hear more.

KGM EVX

Second up is the EVX. Again, this is an SUV that looks very similar to the Torres from some angles. The front end has been changed though, mainly to emphasise the fact that this is a fully electric vehicle.

In place of the petrol model’s chunky grille there’s a neat light bar that separates out into several rectangular sections. Larger lights are present further down the bumper, and give it a face not dissimilar to the Hyundai Santa Fe.

No specs or drivetrain details have been confirmed yet, but we’ll bring you further details as soon as we know more. In the meantime, hit the button below to compare SUV lease deals that are available right now.
