Toyota Corolla Cross set for 2022 launch
Say hello to the all-new Toyota Corolla Cross – essentially a crossover variant of the brand’s popular Corolla hatch.
It fits in the range between the compact C-HR and larger RAV 4 and will arrive towards the end of 2022. Here’s what we know so far.

Toyota Corolla Cross styling
The Corolla Cross mixes styling elements of the Corolla hatchback and rolls them into a small SUV package. However, there are many elements not too dissimilar from Toyota’s upcoming bZ4x all-electric model.
Up front you’ll find the brand’s wide trademark grille flanked by headlights that incorporate LED daytime running lights. At the rear, the tail lights are reminiscent of the RAV 4, but slightly less squared off.
Overall it’s a good-looking crossover that looks a little more conservative to cars like the Peugeot 3008 and Nissan Qashqai which will be its main competition.
Toyota Corolla Cross interior and tech
Step inside and you’ll find the same floating infotainment touchscreen found on the latest Corolla hatch. It’s based around a 10.5in touchscreen and is compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as standard.
Below it, you’ll find that Toyota has retained real buttons to control the climate control and heating, while the driver’s display is also a 12.3in digital unit that shows key info relating to the car’s improved hybrid drivetrain.

Exact specs are to be confirmed, but we know that the Corolla Cross uses the fifth generation of Toyota’s hybrid drivetrain, which has been tweaked to improve efficiency while simultaneously offering more torque.
It uses a 2.0-litre petrol engine and electric motor which, when combined, produce around 200hp. The Corolla Cross will be available in both two and four-wheel drive form, with the all-wheel drive adding a second electric motor at the rear.
The system uses the latest lithium ion battery pack that’s lighter than before, while tweaks to the motor mean there’s less friction than before resulting in a boost to torque.
Toyota Corolla Cross prices and release date
No list prices have been revealed, but you can expect the Corolla Cross to cost from around £30,000 when it arrives in the autumn months of 2022.
