Volkswagen ID.7 Tourer styling

The ID.7 Tourer is a development of the existing ID.7, which is Volkswagen’s flagship electric vehicle. The ID.7 Tourer replaces the Arteon Shooting Brake, and side on it’s obvious it mirrors this outgoing model.

Up front, it gains the same sleek headlight and light bar design as the fastback, while 19in alloy wheels are standard fitment with larger rims also offered. The rear light bar features a smoked design and spans the width of the car.

Volkswagen ID.7 Tourer interior and tech

All models feature a 15in infotainment touchscreen just like the standard ID.7, while the sleek-looking digital driver display and ambient lighting give the interior a classy feel.

The cabin is also spacious, and is arguably class-leading in this regard as far as electric estate go. Aside from the extra cubby space, the headline figure is its 605-litre boot – that’s more capacity than the BMW i5 Touring.

With the rear seats folded flat, space increases to an impressive 1,714 litres.

Volkswagen ID.7 Tourer drivetrains

The ID.7 Tourer is available with either a 77kWh or 86kWh battery, with charging speeds up to 175kW and 200kW respectively. The result is both cars can regain a 10% to 80% charge in around half an hour.

Models with the 86kWh battery are officially capable of 425 miles of range, with the smaller battery capable of around 390 miles. Volkswagen has put a lot of thought into the aerodynamics, with the ID.7 Tourer having a drag coefficient of just .24.

This, combined with a clever charging and thermal battery management system, means the ID.7 is a really efficient EV.
