Hyundai i20: Price and specs confirmed

  • 22 Oct 2020

Prices and specs for the new and much-improved Hyundai i20 supermini have been revealed, with list prices for the Fiesta rival starting from £18,595.

It gets a much fresher look, new tech and a 48v mild-hybrid drivetrain option. Here’s what you need to know.

Exterior

Externally, the i20 is much more contemporary than the outgoing model. It features a much more angular appearance and brings the supermini in line with the larger i30 hatchback.

A large grille now dominates the front, while at the rear the taillights blend subtly into the wide profile of the car.

With a sharp up-kick noticeable at the C-pillar behind the rear doors, it gets a floating-roof appearance which can be enhanced by choosing a contrasting paint option.

Interior

On the inside, you’ll find a much-revised interior that now features an 8in or 10.25inn infotainment system (depending on specification) and a 10.25in driver display replaces analogue dials across the range. All models feature Android Auto and Apple CarPlay too.

Trims

Trim-wise, things kick off with the entry-level SE Connect (£18,595). It gets 16in alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights, air conditioning, cruise control, an 8in touchscreen infotainment system, rear parking sensors and even a rear-view camera – impressive stuff for the entry-level option.

Plump for the Premium trim (£20,795) and you’ll get 17in alloy wheels, LED headlights and taillights, power folding door mirrors, automatic wipers, climate control, heated front seats and a larger 10.25in infotainment system.

At the top of the range you’ll find an all-new trim – the Ultimate. Priced from £22,095, it features a range of upgrades including two-tone contrasting paint work, an engine start/stop button, wireless charging pad, blind spot detection, forward collision assist and a premium eight-speaker Bose audio system.

Engines

Engine-wise, at launch all models will receive a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that utilises 48v mild-hybrid technology.

It produces 99bhp and comes with a six-speed manual as standard, although a seven-speed automatic is offered as an option too.

The 48v drivetrain has been designed to deliver a balance of economy and performance, with all models getting an official combined mpg figure of 55.4.

Available to order now, the new i20 range will be expanded with the sporty-looking i20 N-Line and Fiesta ST-rivalling i20 N set to arrive next year.
