Tesla a step closer to fully autonomous driving in Europe

  • 14 Mar 2024

Tesla will soon introduce the next level of its self-driving tech in Europe, following a significant development in the regulations, which paves the way for fully self-driving vehicles to be permitted on European roads.

The change opens the door to Tesla’s FSD beta v12 update, which is aiming to introduced more advanced driver assistance technologies and improve on its current SAE level 2 autonomous capabilities.

The changes to regulations will come into force from September, with the earliest adopters of the tech set to hit European roads from October.

In short, the change will mean Tesla can reinstate various aspects of its Autopilot system which have previously been restricted in markets outside of America.

The improved Autopilot promises improvements such as handling roundabouts, cobbled streets, narrow city streets and pedestrian zones. We’ll have to wait and see when the changes will be added to UK-bound models.
