Volkswagen Polo GTI: Specs and list prices revealed

  • 18 Nov 2021

The Volkswagen Polo GTI has been given a refresh for 2021. It retains its 204hp engine, but has upped its game in the tech and styling department.

Priced from £26,430, here’s what you need to know.

Volkswagen Polo GTI exterior

So, what’s new on the outside? Not that much – many design elements have been carried straight over, ensuring this still looks every bit a scaled down Golf GTI. There are dynamic indicators on offer for the first time, completing the lighting makeover.

There’s a new LED set of headlights that now gets the full-width lighting bar between the grille and bumper. Elsewhere, the rear bumper has been tweaked, while the alloy wheel designs have been changed too.

Volkswagen Polo GTI interior and tech

As standard, the Polo GTI still gets an 8in infotainment touchscreen. But other tech options are now on offer; as well as Discover Pro and Discover Media systems, VW’s digital cockpit can now be specified.

We’ve already seen this on the latest Golf, as well as the ID.3 and it’s an impressive set-up. Voice control, wireless charging and an upgraded stereo system are also on the options list.

Travel Assist is another new optional extra. This adds an adaptive cruise control system and traffic alerts at the front and rear. It basically allows semi-autonomous driving under certain driving conditions.

Volkswagen Polo GTI drivetrain

This remains largely unchanged. You’ll find the same 204hp turbocharged petrol engine under the bonnet, which comes as standard with a seven-speed automatic gearbox.

It can get the Polo GTI from 0-62mph in 6.5 seconds.
