Case study: Why leasing made sense for petrolhead Josh

  • 04 Dec 2020

Josh Hawtin just got his rapid Seat Cupra 290 delivered and is loving the responsiveness and excitement of the car’s capabilities in track mode through its FWD system.

This is not the first time Josh has leased, and not the first time he’s secured an envious deal from the car leasing experts – Leasing.com. You could say he’s a bit of an expert himself.

A self-confessed petrolhead, Josh was hooked when looking in the market for his first high-performance hot hatch. “I had a couple of vehicles in mind such as the Mercedes A35 AMG, Golf GTI, Audi S3 and Seat Cupra. The Cupra was extremely great value for money, given the number of miles that would have heavily depreciated the car anyway. I test drove the Cupra and I absolutely fell in love with the bonkers character of the car.”

Here’s how Josh said goodbye to buying

“I always wondered how some of my family friends could have access to brand new vehicles with relatively small deposits and monthly payments, I was super curious and found out more about Personal Contract Hire (PCH), also known as leasing.”

My friends had the same vehicle but were paying £60-£150 per month more for their car than I was.

Josh’s first car was a Fiesta Red Edition Zetec S 140psi, in fact, he found the lease by comparing deal on … you guessed it… Leasing.com. “My friends had the same vehicle but were paying £60-£150 per month more for their car, and I was the only one using Personal Contract Hire (PCH). After telling my friends about the benefits of leasing, they could also see the logic as to why this outperforms other financing methods, its hassle free, cost effective and effortless.”

I found that leasing was not only the most affordable but also the best way to attain a brand new vehicle.

Josh is somebody that wants to keep an eye on his pennies and describes himself as a “financially minded person”. He’s always looking for the best deals which helped him realise that: “PCH was cheaper than alternatives such as HP and PCP by a long shot”. He couldn’t believe the prices some of his friends were paying for the same car but financed via Personal Contract Purchase (PCP).

“If you’re getting the exact same make and model of vehicle, why would you go for a PCP and pay more?” he said.

“I always used to wonder how some of my family friends could have access to brand new vehicles with relatively small deposits and monthly payments, I was super curious and wanted to find out more about PCH and leasing.”

Josh’s Seat Cupra 290, (300bhp) 2.0 TSI turbo charged in Nevada White (metallic) - the most powerful vehicle in the Seat range. As commuting plays a major part in his work life, Josh configured his lease plan to include 15,000 miles per year on a 24-month contract.

“My best friend owned a used 2008 BMW E92 M3. Since owning the car, he has become frustrated by the continuous maintenance expenditure, tax costs and constant headaches whilst fixing the car. Since seeing my painless experience with leasing, I can be assured that he will be leasing his next vehicle.”

Having convinced his friends that leasing is the way forward, Josh has described leasing as: “A fantastic way of attaining a brand new vehicle that is up to date with safety and emission standards. The benefits towards leasing such as, a brand new vehicle, manufacturer warranty, tax included, low monthly payments and no worries about depreciation seem like a no-brainer to most people who want to enjoy motoring”.

“I would absolutely use and recommend comparing deals on Leasing.com to my friends and family. The friendly user interface is fantastic for selecting the vehicle of your dreams. I will be using Leasing.com, to source my deal of the brand new BMW M4 next time.”
