What is Ford Vignale? What does a Vignale Ford get?

Ford makes some fantastic cars, but if you’re after something with a little cache it’s not necessarily the first manufacturer that springs to mind. That’s where Vignale, its luxury sub-brand comes in.

Rather than offer an all-out new model, you can order several of Ford’s mainstream models with this premium package. The Mondeo, S-Max, Edge and Kuga have already had the treatment, but we can also expect the next generation of Fiesta to be available in Vignale-guise too.

Why was Vignale introduced?

Ford claims the Vignale brand hasn’t been concocted to sway people away from the ever-popular German luxury brands, but that’s not the whole story.

Once upon a time, the Mondeo truly ruled the roads, but these days you’re more likely to spot a BMW 3 Series – the car blamed for falling Ford sales in the saloon sector – than you are a humble Mondeo.

Ford had also noticed that the majority of people were specifying their cars in the previously range-topping Titanium and Titanium X models too, with some customers even wanting luxuries these well-equipped variants didn’t have.

What does a Vignale Ford get?

To make a Vignale stand out from lowlier models, externally you can spec your Vignale in a number of exclusive colours that aren’t available on any other Ford.

You’ll also be able to mark out a Vignale thanks to its large, Vignale-only alloy wheels, a honeycomb grille, chrome trim and in most cases, standard LED active headlights.

If you’re not balled over by the somewhat lack lustre external changes, open the door and you’ll soon see it’s the insides where most of the luxury touches can be found.

Besides the plethora of tech such as Sync3 infotainment, satnav and park assist, Vignales get hand-stitched diamond leather upholstery. While the dashboard is unmistakably a Ford product, it’s wrapped in only the finest soft-touch materials.

It’s not just about the look either, with Vignales featuring significantly more insulation than models lower down in the trim chain. What’s more, Vignale cars are all built in Spain, where engineers carry out a 40-point quality check, so overall fitment of a Vignale is guaranteed to be top notch.

Vignale is not only set apart from Ford by its range of cars, but by the level of service as well. In what Ford like to call the “Vignale experience”, all Vignale customers get a more personal service than usual. That means when the car’s due a service, you can have it picked up instead of taking time out of your day to go to the dealer. You can even have it cleaned free of charge!

Is Vignale worth it?

If you want a Ford that’s as opulent as a Ford can be, then the answer is yes. However, you’ll pay a premium. For example, the cheapest Mondeo Vignale deals will see you paying around £260 per month, while an Edge SUV Vignale costs from around £420 per month.
