BMW iX3 styling and design
The iX3 is certainly a breath of fresh air, and is the first of BMW’s Neue Klasse generation of vehicles. In case you were wondering, Neue Klasse literally translates as New Class, and takes its name from the original Neue Klasse from the 1960s.
Externally, it really is new. While there are certain cues carried over from BMW’s current SUVs, this really is an all-new car. It’s a much simpler and cleaner design than we’ve seen from BMW in years, with minimal chrome and an all-new design of the kidney grille.

Underneath the iX3 sits BMW’s all-new sixth-generation electric platform, developed specifically for EVs rather than adapted from combustion-engine models.
The Neue Klasse architecture introduces redesigned electric motors, new cylindrical battery cells and an 800-volt electrical system — all aimed at improving efficiency and charging performance.

BMW iX3 range and charging
One of the headline figures is range — and it’s a big one.
BMW claims the longest-range version of the iX3 will manage up to 500 miles on a single charge, thanks to a new 108kWh battery pack and major efficiency gains from the Neue Klasse platform.
The move to an 800-volt system should also unlock ultra-rapid charging capability. BMW says drivers could add hundreds of miles of range in around 10 minutes under ideal conditions, putting the iX3 firmly among the fastest-charging electric SUVs expected in 2026.
Improved thermal management and smarter energy recovery systems should also help maximise real-world efficiency, particularly on longer motorway journeys — traditionally a weak point for large electric SUVs.

The BMW iX3 is set to launch very soon, with the production version expected to be officially revealed within the next month ahead of customer deliveries beginning later in 2026.
