Nissan has given us a sneak peak of three key new models that are set to launch between now and 2026 – including the upcoming Micra.

Featuring all-electric drivetrains, the new model will use the same underpinnings as the Renault 5. It’ll be joined by a fresh Leaf and all-electric Juke model by 2026. Here’s what we know about the Micra so far.

An electrifying 2025 ahead for Nissan: return of Micra as an EV. Third generation LEAF to launch. And updated e-POWER for Qashqai.

Nissan Micra fast facts

  • New Micra uses Renault 5 underpinnings
  • First new model that’ll launch in all-electric push
  • Gets cute looks and throwback design to the K12 Micra
  • 40kWh and 52kWh batteries offered
  • Up to 248 miles of range

Nissan Micra styling

The Micra was designed alongside the new Renault 5, and there’s some familiar design cues shared between the two. But while the Renault focuses on the iconic model of old, the Micra takes its inspiration from the K12 Micra.

This is evident with its bulbous front and rear lights and soft edges. It’s around the same size as the 5, although the bonnet is longer and the taper isn’t as sharp – it’s much less angular than the Renault, again harking back to the cute Micras of old.

Nissan Micra interior and tech

There’s no official pictures of the Micra’s interior, although we imagine that again, it’ll borrow themes from the Renault.

Expect to see a cool digital driver display and a slick Google-based infotainment system. We’ll bring you more details as soon as they’re confirmed.

Nissan Micra powertrains

Nissan has confirmed the Micra will be available with the same 40kWh and 52kWh battery options that are available in the Renault 5 and, while range is to be announced, the larger battery offers up to 248 miles of range in the Renault.

Again, power is to be confirmed, but we expect variants on offer that produce 120hp and 150hp respectively – just like the Renault. The Micra is due to launch by the end of the year, with list prices starting under £25,000.

We’ll bring you more details as and when they’re revealed. In the meantime, you can check out Nissan lease deals that are available right now by hitting the button below.
