When it comes to leasing a new car, it can sometimes be tempting the go for the latest models available. But sometimes, it might be worth waiting a little longer.

2024 promises to be an exciting year when it comes to new arrivals. Several models are poised to make a debut on Leasing.com over the next 12 months.

We took a look at five of the most anticipated models and considered whether they’re worth waiting for. Let’s take a closer look.

Ford Explorer

Ford Explorer EV

The Ford Explorer name has been around for decades, but it’s been absent from the UK market for quite a while. That’s all set to change with the new all-electric version.

Set to offer a capacious interior and strong off-road credentials, the Explorer EV will build on an already strong reputation for durability.

Aside from its abilities off the road, a highlight is set to be its new infotainment system which brings with it a host of connectivity features. Depending on specification, a range of new safety tech is also set to be offered, keeping up with the ever-evolving industry standards.

The first customer deliveries are now set to commence in the summer months of 2024. We’ll bring you lease deals as soon as they’re available. In the meantime, you can read about the new Explorer here.

Cupra Tavascan

Cupra Tavascan

The Cupra Formentor has proven to be one of the most popular lease cars in 2023. Cupra will be hoping this trend continues with the all-new Tavascan. First shown as a concept in 2019, in 2024 it’ll finally hit production.

It gets an all-electric powertrain that’ll offer similar levels of power to the Cupra Born. You’ll also be able to spec it in either two or all-wheel drive form, with all models capable of more than 300 miles between charges.

With a fastback SUV look, we expect the Tavascan to be an immediate hit. Inside, you’ll find a raft of impressive infotainment features based around a large 15in touchscreen.

No launch date for the brand’s second all-electric model has been confirmed, but it will be sometime next year. We’ll bring you further details as soon as we know them.

Citroen e-C3

Citroen e-C3

With the e-C3, Citroen is hoping to democratise electric cars. How? By making it one of the most affordable on the market. With list prices from around £20,000, this will be a seriously attainable EV compared to what we’ve been used to.

It also ditches the supermini looks traditionally associated with this model, in favour of a boxier crossover look. In fact, it takes direct inspiration from the Oli concept.

The Citroen’s interior gets an equally original design, featuring recycled fabrics and a new steering wheel design. However, the central infotainment unit you see in these pictures won’t be available on entry-level models; you’ve got to use your phone instead, courtesy of a mount.

Featuring a 44kW battery, the e-C3 can muster up to 199 miles of driving range from a single charge. There are also hints a cheaper model will be offered after launch, offering 124 miles of range. Here’s everything we know so far.

Renault 5

The Renault 5 is an iconic compact car that has left a lasting mark on the automotive industry. In 2024, Renault is set to revive this classic model with a modern twist, and it's generating quite a buzz among car enthusiasts.

The 2024 Renault 5 is expected to pay homage to its predecessor's distinctive styling while incorporating modern design elements. It's likely to be available in both gasoline and electric versions, catering to a wide range of preferences.

For fans of the original Renault 5, this new iteration promises a sense of nostalgia combined with contemporary features. The electric version is expected to offer a practical range, making it suitable for daily commuting.

If you have a fondness for classic cars and are intrigued by the idea of a modern interpretation, waiting for the 2024 Renault 5 could be a rewarding choice.

MG Cyberster

MG is on a role. Its MG4 has caused quite a stir in the hatchback market over the last year or two. Now it’s hoping to achieve the same in the sports car space. Enter the MG Cyberster EV.

Taking inspiration from MG roadsters of old, the Cyberster is a two-seat sports car that’ll be offered with a seriously potent electric drivetrain. In fact, if figures are to be believed, you’ll be able to specify one with 536hp.

Range-wise, details are to be confirmed, but we reckon you can expect between 250 and 300 miles between charges. Watch this space – could this be a viable electric alternative to the MX-5? We’ll keep you posted.

Don’t want to wait?

Choosing a new car is a significant decision, and whether or not to wait for a 2024 model depends on your specific needs and preferences. Each of the mentioned models offers unique features and benefits.

But if you don’t want to wait for a new model, there are plenty of excellent deals on a broad range of models available right now. In fact, the winter months are often a great time to lease, with brokers and manufacturers offering reduced rates in this traditionally quiet period.
