Dacia Duster styling

Unlike the previous generation, the Duster has gained a much more significant styling update that breaks away from the original model. The brand’s latest insignia is still present, but the front end is much more chiselled than before.

The squared off looks continue around the side and rear, with the new car taking its cues from the Dacia Bigster concept. Proportionally, the rear end extends lower than it did before, and chunky black body cladding gives it further SUV appeal.

The rear slights have been completely redesigned, and are now triangular in design. The boot lid has also been refreshed, ushering in a much more modern look too.

Dacia Duster interior and tech

Changes inside are equally as dramatic. Dacia has been known for offering “back to basics” motoring, and its trim pieces have often reflected this. But the new Dacia looks much more premium than before.

For starters, the infotainment system is now a floating unit that’s angled towards the driver, who also benefits from a digital display in the binnacle. The old circular vents have been swapped out for much more modern hexagonal.

However, entry-level cars will feature a phone holder in place of the central 10in touchscreen, allowing you to connect your phone as a “substitute” infotainment system.

Dacia Duster drivetrains

From launch, you’ll be able to pick between a 1.2-litre petrol and 1.6-litre petrol. The latter can also be specified as a full hybrid unit – a first for the brand. You’ll also be able to opt to specify the larger non-hybrid motor as a dual-fuel car, allowing you to use LPG.

We’ve seen the hybrid before, in the Jogger. It produces around 140hp and will allow you to achieve upwards of 50mpg in the real world. Exact UK specs are to be confirmed, but a six-speed manual gearbox will be available as well as an automatic.
