Read on for everything you need to know.

Mazda 2 Hybrid styling

The Mazda 2 is still a relatively fresh car and under the skin is actually a close relative of the Toyota Yaris. In the outgoing model, this was a little obvious. But thanks to some neat styling tweaks the 2 really stands out now.

Up front, there’s a fresh grille design and this whole area now seems more flush and in-keeping with other Mazda models from a stylistic point of view. The bumpers have been changed too to include a fresh alloy wheel design.

Mazda 2 Hybrid interior and tech

The stand-out update to the interior is the infotainment offering. All models feature a large 10.5in touchscreen that’s intuitive to use and compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

It’s not only bigger than the outgoing model’s 8in monitor, but it’s also wider than the 9in unit found in the Yaris on which this car is based.

Despite its small proportions, the Mazda 2 offers decent space for its class – there’s 286 litres of boot space, while its 2.5-metre wheelbase ensures passenger room is impressive too.

Mazda 2 Hybrid drivetrain

Producing 116hp, the drivetrain is unchanged when compared to its predecessor. Official stats show that it’ll get from 0-62mph in9.7 seconds, while returning a WLTP combined cycle fuel economy of up to 74.3mpg depending on exact specification.

The car will always start in EV mode, which offers sooth, seamless and quiet running on electric power in urban environments. As you demand more power, the petrol engine will kick in and work seamlessly with the electric motor to provide optimum economy.

Battery power level is constantly managed via an engine-driven generator to remove any need to recharge the system from an external source.
