Nissan Qashqai gets a makeover for 2024

Nissan has taken the covers off its reworked Qashqai, with a bold new look, more efficient drivetrains and improved interior tech.

Taking its cues from the Ariya EV, here’s what you need to know about the updated car.

Nissan Qashqai styling

The new Qashqai get a noticeably different look, particularly up front. The smooth lines are gone, replaced by a larger, more aggressive grille that incorporates a stunning pair of headlights. The LED daytime running lights remain within the bonnet shut line, separate from the headlights and cornering lamps.

Side on, the familiar silhouette goes rather more unchanged. Although there are noticeable new creases, with a kick plate and swoopier C pillar (the bit between the boot and rear passenger doors).

At the rear, the tail lights have been redesigned, and are joined by a fresh bumper design. A range of new alloys will also be offered, along with a fresh choice of colours and two-tone paint options.

Nissan Qashqai interior and tech

The interior has benefited from a milder update, with the most significant upgrade coming in the form of the infotainment system. It might look similar to before, but there’s a new Google-based operating system that makes it much quicker than before.

All models except the most basic will benefit from this tech and feature Google Maps as standard. It will of course be compatible with wirelessw Android Auto and Apple Car Play. The screen remains 12.3in in diameter and is accompanied by a digital driver display.

Other notable changes include the deleting of the current Visia trim level. A more premium trim will be introduced though; called the N-Design, it’ll be marked out by Alcantara trim pieces and be similarly priced to the Tekna+ model.

Five trims will be offered in total: Acenta Premium, N-Connecta, Tekna, N-Design and Tekna+. All Qashqais will take a step up when it comes to safety too, and will include autonomous emergency braking, lane-keep assist and drowsiness alert systems as standard.

Nissan Qashqai powertrains

All engine options remain electrified, with hybrid tech featuring on all models. The entry-level 1.3-litre mild-hybrid produces 138hp or 158hp depending on spec. An automatic gearbox and options four-wheel drive system is offered on the more potent version.

The e-Power option uses a 1.5-litre unit combined with an electric motor and 1.9kWh battery pack. This drivetrain offers EV-like driving characteristics, with the 187hp electric motor providing power at all times. Unlike an EV though, you don’t need to plug it in; it uses the motor to charge itself.

The e-Power model also features Nissan’s e-Pedal tech, just like an EV. It offers impressive regenerative braking.

Nissan Qashqai release date

The fresh Qashqai will likely be available to order from the summer, with deliveries commencing shortly thereafter. We’ll bring you the best leasing plans as soon as they’re available.
