Peugeot E-408 styling
Consider the E-408 a twin of the petrol and PHEV 408 models – it looks almost identical on the outside, with the only clues to its electric drivetrain being the badging.
From launch, it’ll be available in Allure and GT trim. The ALlure features 19in alloys, LED headlights, while the GT adds things like a hands-free tailgate and matrix LED headlights.
Peugeot E-408 interior and tech
Again, the interior is essentially identical to the other 408s in the range. That means a 10in infotainment touchscreen and a 10in digital driver display.
Obviously there are some small differences with the system, with the infotainment screen displaying key info about the vehicle’s electric powertrain, while the paddles behind the wheels now adjust the regenerative braking rather than acting as gear selectors.
Peugeot E-408 powertrain
Compared with the smaller E-308 hatchback, the E-408 gets a notable power boost. It produces up to 210hp, although its output depends which driving mode you choose.
For example, in Eco mode you'll get 170hp, while in Comfort mode you get 190hp. It’s only when you put it in Sport that you’ll unleash the full capability of the motor.
It can charge at speeds of up to 120kW, meaning you’ll be able to gain an 80% charge in around half an hour. All models feature a single electric motor, with no all-wheel drive option from launch.
Its 58kWh battery can offer up to 281 miles of range, which puts it on par with rivals like the Hyundai Ioniq 5. It also beats its stablemate the Citroen E-C4 X by around 30 miles.
