Smart #3 electric SUV revealed
Hot on the heels of the upcoming #1, Smart has revealed the #3, an upcoming electric SUV.
Making its debut at the Shanghai Motor Show, it’s a car aiming to take on the likes of the Mini Countryman. Here’s everything we know so far.
Smart #3 styling
This is the second in an all-new generation of cars for the Smart brand, and as such it takes many of its styling elements from the new #1. That means a wraparound headlights design up front, sharp styling and a swoopy silhouette.
At the rear, the light bar runs the full width of the car, while side on, it’s clear the #3 takes inspiration from SUV coupes, with elongated rear pillars that stretch back to the boot area. As you’d expect, it’ll be larger than the #1, and will be aimed at families and small electric crossovers like the Peugeot e-2008.
Smart #3 interior and tech
The interior picture above shows the #3 will borrow much from the #1 in terms of look, trim and tech. That means a large 12.8in infotainment system that focuses on providing excellent connectivity.
There’ll likely be a 9in digital driver display, while a raft of driver assistance tech will be offered too. There’s no news on boot space either, although with the #1 offering 411 litres, it’ll likely provide more luggage capacity than that.
Smart #3 drivetrain
Again, tech specs haven’t been confirmed. However, we know it’ll utilise a similar platform to the #1, which means that a 66kWh battery offering more than 250 miles of range is likely to feature.
Larger battery options are also likely to be offered, while power is likely to be around 270 depending on the model you go for.
