Additional fees

This indicates any additional fees payable to the advertising partner, which are paid at the beginning of your lease contract. These fees may include an administration fee, a delivery fee or other charges.

Initial rental

Rather than a deposit, you will pay an initial rental when you lease. This is paid at the start of the contract and comprises several monthly payments, usually three, six or nine months rolled into one. For example, if you're looking at a £200-per-month lease deal with three months upfront, you'll pay a £600 initial payment. This flexible payment structure allows you to choose how much you want to pay upfront, helping you manage your finances effectively. Please note that any mention of the initial payment usually means the initial rental plus additional fees.

Annual mileage

All car and van lease deals come with an annual mileage allowance. It's important to calculate this accurately before you take out your contract. To do this, consider your typical driving habits and the distance you cover regularly. Popular mileage allowances include 5k, 8k, 10k and 15k. The average mileage travelled per car in the UK is 6,551 miles.

Contract length

This refers to how long your lease contract lasts and how long you will have the keys to your chosen vehicle. The most popular contract lengths are two and three years, but longer and shorter contracts are available. At the end of the contract, you hand the keys back.

Maintenance

This indicates whether a maintenance package is included in your lease deal. You can usually opt for a maintenance package at an extra monthly cost.
