Volkswagen T-Cross styling

The T-Cross isn’t exactly an old model, but Volkswagen has decided to give its exterior a subtle but thorough going over. There’s a new set of bumpers that make the car slightly larger than the outgoing model, and the headlight and grille designs have been renewed too.

A host of new alloy wheel and colour designs are available, while the R-Line model gets sportier trim including a revised front bumper. At the back, the tail lights have been altered too, and now feature a new lighting pattern.

Volkswagen T-Cross interior and tech

The bigger changes come on the inside, where Volkswagen says it has improved interior quality all round. This is immediately evident with new soft-touch plastics present throughout the cabin. Depending on specification, you’ll also get brushed aluminium trim or carbon-fibre effect trim pieces.

The infotainment system has been updated too, with a new 8in touchscreen present. A larger 9in screen is also on offer should you wish to upgrade. The system is slicker than before and is of course compatible with Android Auto and Apple Car Play.

Volkswagen T-Cross drivetrains

Just three engine options are offered, and all of them petrol. Two 1.0-litre units produce 95hp and 115hp respectively, with the latter offered with a six speed manual as opposed to the five-speed in the less potent model.

A 1.5-litre unit is also offered, which produces 150hp and comes as standard with an automatic gearbox. No hybrid or diesel options are offered.
