Honda e:Ny1 EV is on the way
The Honda e:Ny1 is set to arrive on UK shores, and will be the second fully electric vehicle the brand will offer in Europe.
Set to take the shape of a crossover, it’s a direct relative of a car that’s already built in China and gets up to 256 miles of range. Here’s what we know so far.
Honda e:Ny1 fast facts
- New crossover based on e:NS1 already sold in China
- 68kWh battery pack
- Up to 256 miles of range
- Borrows styling cues from other Honda SUVs
- Alternative to the Jeep Avenger and Kia Niro EV
Honda e:Ny1 styling
The new car borrows a few styling cues from existing models. Up front, you get a similar sleek set of headlights to the HR-V, although being fully electric means that it gets a mu flatter, blanked off grille.
The side profile reveals this is a crossover in the truest sense, although it’s a more original design than many competitors thanks to a sloping rear end rather than a sharp cut off that many crossovers feature.
The belt line is high, and runs from the leading edge of the bonnet right through to the tail lights. Chunky black trim and large alloy wheels complete the look.
Honda e:Ny1 interior and infotainment
All models feature a large 15.1-inch central touchscreen and a 10.25-inch digital instrument display that combine to offer an extensive suite of driving and infotainment features.
You’ll be able to view what the vehicle is doing and when, including energy use, and charging status, alongside Android Auto and wireless Apple Car Play.
A host of active safety tech is fitted across the range, including collision mitigation braking, blind spot assist, lane keep assist and traffic sign recognition.
Honda e:Ny1 trim levels
All models feature a great level of standard kit, with entry-level Elegance models featuring electric seats, heated seats, dual-zone air con, wireless charging, keyless entry and sequential indicators (like an Audi).
Advance grade takes things up a notch, introducing a multi-view camera and a parking assist system. Rear parking sensors and a rear camera are standard on all models.
Honda e:Ny1 drivetrain
Featuring a 68kWh battery pack, all models are capable of up to 256 miles between charges, according to the WLTP cycle. Honda has also ensured that fast-charging capability is an option, and can get from 10% to 80% charge in around 45 minutes.
The electric motor creates 201hp, giving it more power than some electric rivals such as the Jeep Avenger and Peugeot e-2008.
