Porsche Cayenne styling
The Cayenne was due a fresh face, and the redesign doesn’t disappoint. As ever with Porsche, it’s a case of evolution over revolution; the silhouette and overall proportions look similar to the outgoing model.
However up front is a completely revised bumper, bonnet and grille. The headlights are more sculpted than before, while the squared off ait intakes give it an aggressive look. As before, the Cayenne can be had in SUV or Coupe form.
Round the back, a full-width light bar offers tail lights with 3D effect, while the bumper has been redesigned too and is now flush with the boot lid. As you’d expect, a range of large 20, 21 and 22in alloy wheels are offered depending on spec.
Porsche Cayenne interior and tech
Step inside, and the refresh goes even further than the exterior. The dashboard is completely new, with trim and steering wheel borrowed from the latest 911. The driver gets a 12in digital driver display, while the infotainment unit is a stunningly vivid 12.3in unit.
Most interestingly, there’s also the option to add a further 11in display for the passenger, allowing your travelling companion to view the satnav as well as stream videos and watch films. It’s cleverly designed to ensure the driver can’t see it when behind the wheel.
Other new features includes a revised climate control system that can adapt recirculation automatically depending on atmospheric conditions. The gear selector has also moved onto the dashboard, which gives the centre console a cleaner look than before too.
Porsche Cayenne drivetrains
Several variants are offered. The standard Cayenne features a 3.0-litre V6 engine producing 353hp. For those wanting a little more oomph, the Cayenne S features a 4.0-litre V8 unit producing 475hp – significantly more than the outgoing S.
The result is a 0-62mph time of under five seconds. The plug-in E-Hybrid model has also improved courtesy of a new battery pack. Electric-only range now stands at 56 miles – a big improvement compared with the old model.
