C-Charge exemption for facelifted Toyota Yaris Hybrid, coming summer
Toyota’s Yaris Hybrid will become the first non-plug-in car to receive a full discount from London’s Congestion Charge zone from this summer.
A facelifted version of the third generation supermini goes on sale this August with a new x-shaped front grille, similar to the second gen Aygo city car, and new rear lights.
After listening to customer feedback, Toyota says it has improved the Yaris’ ride and handling, NVH levels, interior quality, and fuel economy with tweaked powertrains.
Ordered as a 1.5-litre petrol-electric hybrid, the refreshed Yaris can return 85.6mpg combined (previously 81mpg) at 75g/km CO2, the highest level of emissions a car can spout before drivers have to pay the Congestion Charge, which rises 15% from June 16. Hybrids represent one in four Yaris models sold in the UK.
The 1.0L petrol will also become VED-exempt with CO2 falling from 111g/km to 99g/km. Fuel consumption figures haven’t been confirmed yet but we’d expect combined mpg to stretch from 58.9mpg into the mid-60s.
Have a look around the inside of the improved Yaris Hybrid’s interior:
All facelifted Yaris models will come with Toyota’s Touch 2 multimedia system, a leather-covered steering wheel and air-con. Optional extras will include rear privacy glass, push-button start, dual-zone air-con, automatic headlights and wipers, cruise control and auto-folding mirrors.
Pricing and a full spec list will be revealed closer to the car’s summer launch.
