Sale events like Black Friday and Cyber Monday might capture the public imagination, but a recent report by Which? found that not all Black Friday deals are as good as they’re cracked up to be.

The consumer rights group tracks prices of various products through the year, found that a whopping 98% of “deals” offer us prices that aren’t as good as at some other point during the last 12 months.

The truth about Black Friday deals

Which?  tracked 208 products in last year’s Black Friday events, finding that 98% were the same price at other times of the year, and 45% were actually cheaper at other times of the year.

This revelation suggests that Black Friday might not be the shopping bonanza it's often hyped up to be. And Black Friday isn’t just for clothing and tech either; you’ll often find big-ticket items like cars offered at “discounted” prices too.

So, what’s the best approach?

Car finance: Beyond Black Friday

Why wait for Black Friday? While you might find special offers, you won’t find any Black Friday deals on Leasing.com. This is because we recognise that car lease deals can be enticing at any time of the year, and the best deals are often incentivised through-out the year for varying reasons.

Instead of limiting your search to events like this, consider other opportune moments too. These could be just before a new number place change in March and September. This is the time that dealers are striving to meet targets, and you’ll often find exceptionally priced deals on in-stock pre-registered vehicles.

Despite rising new and used car prices, leasing remains one of the most cost-effective ways to get behind the wheel of a new vehicle. And we give consumers market-access to the very best deals – all year round.

A year-round approach

Dream deals. All year round. That’s what we strive to offer consumers. After all, Leasing.com is the largest and most comprehensive lease deal comparison site in the UK, offering thousands of deals from leading brokers, leasing companies, dealers, and car manufacturers.

Cupra’s Lean is closely related to the more ordinary-looking Seat version, but adds nice little extras such as unique alloy wheels, sportier trim and of course that very sporty badge.

The Leon is currently one of the best value deals on Leasing.com, with V1 models on offer for less than £200 per month. We’d be quick with these – they won’t hang around for long.

Peugeot 2008 – Under £200 per month

If you’re after something a little more crossover shaped, Peugeot’s well-rounded 2008 is worth a look. 1.2-litre PureTech GT automatic models can currently be had for less than £200 per month, offering a total lease cost of as little as £6,627.68 over a two-year lease deal.

To put that into perspective, that’s probably around the amount of money you’d lose in depreciation alone if you wanted to take out a personal contract purchase agreement on a similar car – which would also likely include a higher monthly payment.

MG4 – Under £225 per month

MG 4 (2)

The MG4 is the car that’s proved practical, family EVs needn’t be expensive. It’s the electrified model of the moment, and can quite happily compete with cars like the Volkswagen ID.3 on the quality and specification front.

That’s significantly less than some of its key rivals, that include the likes of Ford’s Mach E and Hyundai’s Ioniq 5.
